Daniel Richter: Die Idealisten / David Zwirner, New York

Currently, the Chelsea-based gallery David Zwirner presents an exhibition of new work by German artist Daniel Richter. It’s the artist’s second solo show at David Zwirner. The exhibition “Daniel Richter: Die Idealisten” will feature a selection of paintings and works on paper. Daniel Richter studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Hamburg and became first known for his colorful abstract paintings. He later introduced large-scale figurative paintings. For Daniel Richter, the dichotomy between abstract and figurative painting is a constructed fiction, since the formal problems of color and composition remain constant. Richter often finds inspiration in magazines, newspapers, and books. Daniel Richter: Die Idealisten, David Zwirner, New York. Opening reception (with an excerpt of the press preview at the beginning of the video), March 25, 2008.
