Interview with Richard Haden / Dorsch Gallery, Miami

On the occasion of Dorsch Gallery’s group show “Shapeshifters” we met with Richard Haden. Richard Haden is known for his objects that – believe it or not – are carved out of wood. In this episode, he talks about how he began carving objects out of wood, the working process, why he hides the fact that the objects are made of wood, and the narrative aspect in his work.
Richard Haden was born in 1958 in Frankfort, Kentucky. He lives and works in Miami. In 2009 he has a solo exhibition at Lincart, San Francisco. During the Art Basel Miami Beach week 2008 he is taking part in group exhibitions at Art Basel Miami Beach (Allan Stone Gallery, New York), Aqua (Lincart, San Francisco), and Scope (Dorsch Gallery). Richard Haden is also guest writer at Artlurker, a Miami based contemporary art newsletter / blog.
Dorsch Gallery, Miami / Florida, November 29, 2008.
