Gerhard Richter: Pictures / Series at Fondation Beyeler

The exhibition Pictures / Series at Fondation Beyeler focuses on Gerhard Richter’s series, cycles, and interior spaces. On display are some hundred pictures of the German artist: portraits, still-lifes, landscapes, abstract images, two glass objects and sixty-four opverpainted photographs. The exhibition includes works of the major periods in Gerhard Richter’s career since 1966. The show is the largest ever in Switzerland dedicated to Gerhard Richter. The exhibition has been put together by curator Hans Ulrich Obrist in close collaboration with the artist.

Gerhard Richter was born in Dresden in 1932. In the 1950s, Richter studied mural painting at the Art Academy in Dresden. He is considered as one of the most important artists of our time. Gerhard Richter lives and works in Cologne.
