The Truth Booth at Art Basel Miami Beach 2014

In Search of the Truth (The Truth Booth) is a portable, inflatable booth econically shaped like a giant cartoon speech bubble with TRUTH printed on its side. The installation acts much like a photo booth, but instead of taking pictures, the booth records video statements from the public. Once inside, one is invited to finish the statement, “The Truth is…”. In Search of the Truth (The Truth Booth) was launched in 2011 at the Galway Arts Festival (IRL), since then it travelled internationally. The project was created collectively by the artists Ryan Alexiev, Jim Ricks, and Hank Willis Thomas.

During Art Basel Miami Beach, the Truth Booth is installed in Collins Park, as part of Art Basel Miami Beach’s Public sector. In this video, Will Sylvester (project manager), demonstrates how the Truth Booth works, and provides us with an introduction to the project.
