VTV Classics (r3): Isa Genzken: Oil / Venice Art Biennale (2007)

The 2007 edition of the Biennale di Venezia was the first Venice Biennale VernissageTV covered, and although we visited all of them since then, our first is still something special. Apart from the exhibition in the main pavilion, we filmed several national pavilions such as the US pavilion (featuring Felix Gonzalez-Torres), or the British pavilion (Tracey Emin). One of the most popular videos of our Venice Biennale 2007 coverage is Isa Genzken’s exhibition at the German pavilion. Reason enough to give it the r3 treatment, so you can watch it in HD. The video was first published on VernissageTV on June 26, 2007.

Isa Genzken’s primary media are sculpture and installation, using a wide variety of materials and objects, including wood, plaster, textile, mirrors, mannequins, dolls, posters, suitcases, and other found objects. She also works with photography, video and film.

In 2014, Genzken had a huge retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, following survey exhibitions in 2009 at Museum Ludwig in Cologne (Germany) and 2010 at Museion Bolzano (Italy).

Our series r3 highlights the treasures of VernissageTV’s huge archive. R3 is a series of VernissageTV classics, now re-mastered, re-edited and reissued in High Definition. Click here for the complete list of videos. Click here for the original post.
