Nordic Pavilion: In Therapy / Venice Architecture Biennale 2016

In Therapy: Nordic Countries Fact to Face is the title of the exhibition that presents the contemporary architecture of Finland, Norway and Sweden at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2016. Curated by David Basulto, the show presents three categories: Foundational (architecture that cares for basic needs), Belonging (architecture that creates public space), and Recognition (architecture that recognizes certain processes in Nordic society). This classification represents an abstracted interpretation of the structure of Maslow’s 1954 Hierarchy of Needs. The Nordic participation at the 15th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia is a collaboration between ArkDes – the Swedish Centre for Architecture and Design, Stockholm, the Museum of Finnish Architecture Helsinki and the National Museum’s Department of Architecture, Oslo.
