Jasper Johns at Kunstmuseum Basel
The exhibition “Jasper Johns: An Allegory of Painting, 1955 – 1965″ at the Kunstmuseum Basel, previously on view at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, presents some seventy key works on loan from museums and private collections in the US and Europe. It traces the relationship of four specific motifs: the target, the mechanical “device”, the naming colors, and the imprint of the body.
