Aernout Mik / Dutch Pavilion / 52nd Venice Biennale
August 8, 2007

For the Dutch Pavilion at the 52nd International Art Exhibition La Biennale di Venezia 2007, artist Aernout Mik developed a new, complex multi-channel video installation consisting of three works: Training Ground, Convergencies, and Mock Up. The video installation is embedded in an architectural intervention in the Dutch Pavilion. Aernout Mik “shows a mixture of staged scenarios and documentary footage depicting the police, teams of first responders, refugees and victims in crisis situations.” (PR Dutch Pavilion). The work by Aernout Mik is part of the project “Citizens and Subjects” which in addition consists of a critical reader and an “extension” of the Pavilion taking place in the Netherlands in autumn 2007. 52nd Venice Biennale, Venice / Italy, June 7, 2007.
