La Casa Encendida is a social and cultural center in Madrid with a multifaceted program. At the Casa Encendida you can find exhibitions of contemporary art, workshops, theatre courses, and a complete resource center with libraries, a news archive, and a multimedia laboratory. During our stay in Madrid La Casa Encendida presented Generación 2008, an exhibition with works from the art award and scholarship of the same name (on show until March 23, 2008). The program was created to discover and promote the work of young artist and to show the upcoming trends in Spanish contemporary creation. The six projects awarded Generación 2008 scholarships will be exhibited in the 2009 edition of ARCO. In this episode we take a look at the exhibition and also at the facade of the La Casa Encendida building which is currently used for an installation by American artist Joseph Kosuth, one of the pioneers of conceptual and installation art. The work (on show until March 30, 2008) consists of the installation of a series of luminous text taken from works by the Latin American authors Jorge Luis Borges, Julio Cortázar and Juan Carlos Onetti.
