Interview with Rianne Makkink and Jurgen Bey / Contrasts Gallery / Design Miami Basel

At Design Miami Basel we met with Rianne Makkink and Jurgen Bey of Studio Makkink & Bey who presented new work at the booth of Contrasts Gallery, Shanghai / China. Gallery Director Pearl Lam has invited Studio Makkink & Bey, the joint-venture of architect Rianne Makkink and designer Jurgen Bey to investigate Chinese craftmanship and combine it with contemporary ideas and forms. Makkink and Bey are re-inventing traditional Chinese art and craft techniques with its conceptual “Cleanliness is next to Godliness” series. Interview: Sabine Trieloff.
