Vittorio Manalese & Fils: Ein Fest für Boris

In part 1 of our Gallery Weekend Berlin coverage, VernissageTV attends the opening of “Ein Fest für Boris”. Ein Fest für Boris (A Party for Boris) is title of the group show in Contemporary Fine Art’s Bruno Brunnet new gallery offshoot in Berlin Charlottenburg. The space called Vittorio Manalese was launched on the occasion of the Gallery Weekend Berlin on April 29, 2010.

The name of the gallery refers to the Mafia film classic “The Sicilian Clan” (Original French title: Le Clan des Siciliens) directed by Henri Verneuil and starring Jean Gabin, Lino Ventura and Alain Delon. Vittorio Manalese & Fils, Jeux électriques, Flippers – Juke Boxes is the cover name for the Mafiosi’s business.

The inaugural exhibition, curated by Aurelia Sellin, features the following young artists, who all work in Berlin: Madeleine Boschen, Ralf Dereich, Zhivago Duncan, Oliver Flössel, Max Frisinger, Wolfgang Ganter, Maike Gräf, Gitte Jabs, Michelle Jezierski, Jan Koch, Yasmin Müller, Stefan Rinck, Simon Rühle, Dominik Steiner, Philip Topolovac.

The most spectacular of the works on display is a work titled “Spyderman Studio II”, an installation by Max Frisinger that hangs from and in the ceiling.
