More Than Meets the Eye / Photographic Works from the Deutsche Bank Collection / ART HK 10

More than Meets the Eye at ART HK 10 is an exhibition with newly acquired photographic works from the Deutsche Bank Collection in Deutsche Bank’s VIP lounge at the Hong Kong International Art Fair 2010. It marks the premiere as main sponsor of the Hong Kong International Art Fair. VernissageTV met with Friedhelm Hütte, Global Head Deutsche Bank Art to learn more about Deutsche Bank’s engagement in Hong Kong and Asia regarding contemporary art and the exhibition at ART HK.

More than Meets the Eye provides an exclusive preview of new purchases for the Deutsche Bank headquarters in Frankfurt. On display are works by Shirin Aliabadi, Zwelethu Mthethwa, Maha Maamoun, Yang Fudong, Adrian Paci, Anni Leppälä, Cao Fei. One of the visitors favorites is Martin Liebscher’s work. He populated the Tokyo concert venue Suntory Hall with a whole armada of Liebschers as conductor, musician, or listener. The photographer plays all the roles in his large-format photos consisting of a number of individual pictures put together on the computer.

Supplementing the presentation in the Deutsche Bank lounge at ART HK, the Goethe Institute Hong Kong is showing works by Florian Merkel and Samuel Fosso, drawn from the bank’s collection. Many new acquisitions will be shown in the bank’s new Hong Kong head office starting in the summer of 2010, including works by young artists from Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Korea, and Singapore.

More information is also available at Deutsche Bank’s online magazine DB Artmag.
