Venet à Versailles / Interview with Bernar Venet

Following the exhibitions of Takashi Murakami (2010), Jeff Koons (2008), and Xavier Veilhan (2009), this year the French sculptor Bernar Venet has been invited to show his work at Château de Versailles. VernissageTV correspondent Christophe Ecoffet met with Bernar Venet in the garden of the Palace of Versailles for an exclusive interview.
Bernar Venet was born in 1941 in Château-Arnoux Saint-Auban (France). He lives and works in New York and Hungary. Bernar Venet started his career in 1961 and moved to New York in 1966, where he discovered minimal art and exhibited alongside artists such as Sol LeWitt, Donald Judd, Carl Andre, and Dan Flavin. After taking a break from his artistic career, he resumed it in 1976. He finally moved on to sculptures comprising arcs.
In Versailles, Bernar Venet presents 7 works specifically conceived for the gardens of Versailles and the Marly Estate.
