Dream and Reality – Modern and Contemporary Women Artists From Turkey / Istanbul Modern

A new exhibition at the Istanbul Modern brings together modern and contemporary women artists from Turkey in its new exhibition “Dream and Reality”. The show has its focus on the work produced by women artists for more than a century. Curated by Fatmagül Berktay, Levent Çalıkoğlu, Zeynep İnankur, and Burcu Pelvanoğlu, the selection includes the works of 74 artists from diverse disciplines ranging from painting to video. The exhibition takes its title form the 1891 novel “Dream and Reality” coauthored by Fatma Aliye, the first Turkish female novelist, and Ahmet Mithat. “Dream and Reality” runs until January 22, 2011.
