Live Forever: Elizabeth Peyton / New Museum, New York

Live Forever: Elizabeth Peyton” at the New Museum is the first survey of American artist Elizabeth Peyton’s work in an American institution. The retrospective includes more than 100 works made over the past fifteen years. Elizabeth Peyton portraits friends, family, and personal heroes. The exhibition presents works from the earliest portraits of musicians like Kurt Cobain, Liam Gallagher, and Jarvis Cocker to more recent paintings featuring friends and figures from the worlds of art, fashion, cinema, and politics like Rirkrit Tiravanija, Matthew Barney, and Marc Jacobs.
“Live Forever: Elizabeth Peyton” premieres at the New Museum and will then travel to the Walker Art Center, the Whitechapel Art Gallery, and the Bonnefantenmuseum.

She painted Princes William and Harry, John Lennon, Kurt Cobain, Pete Doherty, Ludwig II of Bavaria, and members of the Kennedy family. Neugerriemschneider presents new works by Elizabeth Peyton (April 29 – June 3, 2006), mainly portraits of women and female artists like Georgia O’Keeffe and Frida Kahlo.
