The Transportation Design course was founded in the year 1984 under the title Kfz-Design and was renamed in 1992 as Transportation Design. During the winter semester 2006/2006, the former area of industrial design, Transportation Design, was restructured as an independent department, offering a Bachelor of Arts degree in Transportation Design. In addition to the undergraduate course the Hochschule Pforzheim University has offered a master course (Master of Arts in Transportation Design) since the summer semester of 2001. The Transportation Design students are instructed by Prof. James Kelly, Prof. Lutz Fügener, eleven specific lecturers and four staff members.
