From the 4th until the 7th September 2008, kicking off the season, ABC Art Berlin Contemporary presented a survey show for contemporary art in Berlin. 41 Berlin galleries such as Arndt & Partner, Contemporary Fine Arts, Johnen Galerie, Zak | Branicka participated in this sales show which combined openings at the galleries as well as a large-scale exhibition in the halls of the former Postbahnhof at Gleisdreieck in Berlin Kreuzberg. The show’s focus was on sculpture, installation and projected images. Among the participating artists were Ai Weiwei, Liam Gillick, Andreas Hofer, Ernesto Neto, Thomas Zipp. Responsible for staging the works in the halls of the Alter Postbahnhof was the Berlin based curator Ariane Beyn. ABC – some translate it with “Asbach mit bisschen Cola” (joke for our German readers) – is an initiative of Berlin galleries seeking with the exhibition to “offer new perspectives on the exciting Berlin art scene.” Lizza May David went to the fair on the 4th September and filmed the opening for us.
