Since last year, we have been following the development of an ambitious project on the Caribbean island Dellis Cay. Dellis Cay is the project of Dr. Cem Kinay, Chairman and CEO of the real estate development group O Property Collection. Kinay purchased the 560 acre island (part of the Turks and Caicos archipelago) and commissioned seven world renowned architects to build a luxury hotel, villas and residences. The architects are Zaha Hadid, David Chipperfield, Kengo Kuma, Shigeru Ban, Piero Lissoni, Carl Ettensperger and Chad Oppenheim.
This year’s trip revealed an island that looked quite different: construction works are in full swing, more than 300 people work on the island. In this video, writer, reporter and cartoonist Anthony Haden-Guest spoke with Cem Kinay about the idea and the current state of the project.
In an upcoming episode, Anthony Haden-Guest talks with Piero Lissoni, one of the designers that are involved in the project, and we have an interview with Carl Ettensperger, coming soon.
Anthony Haden-Guest was born in Paris and lives in New York and London. He has published in leading magazines in Britain and America, most recently in Esquire and GQ (UK) and Britain’s Observer Magazine.
In 1979 he was awarded a New York Emmy for writing and narrating a documentary, The Affluent Immigrants (sometimes less politely known as Eurotrash) for PBS.
His most recent books are True Colors: The Real Life of the Art World, The Last Party: Studio 54, Disco, And The Culture Of The Night, and a book of cartoons, The Chronicles of Now. Another book is close to completion.
