Pronto! On Telephony. Plug.in Basel

The exhibition Pronto! On Telephony at [plug.in] in Basel / Switzerland, shows artworks that deal with both playful-experimental and critical-reflexive themes concerning the social impact of the telephone.

The show presents works by the artists and art groups !Mediengruppe Bitnik (CH), Heath Bunting (UK), CADA (PT), Christian Croft/Andrew Schneider (USA), Fabio Gramazio/Martin Kubli/Daniel Udatny/Michel Zai (CH), Graham Harwood/Richard Wright/Matsuko Yokokoji (UK), Crispin Jones/IDEO (UK), Christian Marclay (USA), Lisa Parks (USA), and Unsworn Industries (SE).

In this video, the curators of the exhibition, Andreas Blättler and Raffael Dörig, give us a tour through the show and highlight some of the pieces on display.”¨”¨ The exhibition is part of the cooperation project /dis/connecting/media/ about the medium telephone. It was initiated in the context of the interdisciplinary postgraduate program “Intermediale í„sthetik. Spiel – Ritual – Performanz” at the Universities of Basel and Bern. “¨The show is complemented by an international conference (October 1-3, at baselcitystudios, Basel) and a film programme (October 1-31, Stadtkino Basel). The exhibition runs until November 8, 2009.

[plug.in] is a space for contemporary art, which applies electronic media. Media technology has become an important component of our daily life. [plug.in] deals with the social and artistic questions resulting from the merge of life and media technology.
