Interview with Designer Nacho Carbonell at Design Miami/ Basel 2010

Among the clients of designer Nacho Carbonell are collectors and celebrities such as Brad Pitt. A brand new piece that he presented at the booth of Galleria Rossana Orlandi is his “Bush of Iron”, a chair / desk combination in afro style, build with thousands of iron wires.

“Bush of Iron” belongs the Nacho Carbonell’s Diversity series. Diversity is the single largest body of new work ever shown by Carbonell and debuts a broad array of recently created works made from gravel, thorns, resins, broken glass, mono-filaments, and others. The “Diversity” series was first presented at the Palazzo Ferre in conjunction with Galleria Rossana Orlandi.

Nacho Carbonell graduated in 2003 at the Spanish university Cardenal Herrera C.E.U. and in 2007 at the Design Academy Eindhoven, with the projects “Dream of sand” and “Pump it up”. He was honored with Cum Laude. He created collections such as “Evolution” in 2009, which won him nominations to the design of the year by the London Design Museum. In 2009 he won Design Miami/’s Designer of the Future Award. In 2010 he presented his collection “Diversity” of 17 prototypes during the Milan Design Week. Nacho Carbonell currently works with his team of people at a 20th century church in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, were he has established his studio.

Galleria Rossana Orlandi opened in 2008 to present a range of limited editions and unique pieces from a selection of international designers and artists, particularly young emerging talents.
