ABC Art Berlin Contemporary 2010: Light Camera Action

There are different ways to get to an art fair: We have seen car shuttles, tram shuttles, and boat shuttles. ABC Art Berlin Contemporary adds a new way of getting to a fair: the golf cart. Commuting between Art Forum Berlin and ABC (just a few steps across the park of the Berlin Exhibition Grounds), the carts not only provided transport, but almost roller coaster fun by running over a curved bridge. As the Art Forum Berlin has obviously given up the Sculpture Park idea, a mini-golf course might have been the perfect complement.

ABC Art Berlin Contemporary itself set the focus on film and video. Berlin based curator, critic, film historian, and this year’s ABC curator, Marc Glöde, invited the participating galleries to show artworks, “which explore the full range and subtleties of questions relating to movement, light and performance…”

The exhibition was complemented by a film and performance program at Theater Hebbel am Ufer and at Marshall-Haus, with works by Sharon Lockhart, Cerith Wyn Evans, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, among others.
