Eviva el cotillo / Performance by Ines Doujak at Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin

As part of the opening reception of the exhibition “The Potosí­ Principle”, the Haus der Kulturen der Welt presented a performance by the Austrian artist Ines Doujak, titled “Eviva il cotillo”. The performance consists of a countertenor in costume singing excerpts from the confession manual for priests at Indio missions, with instructions to eradicate indigenous rites and admonishments to help natives make their peace with god before they die; including a list of privileges and marriage bans (1585).
