SupermARkeT at Art Amsterdam 2011

At Art Amsterdam 2011, Galerie A and Artkitchen Gallery set up the supermARkeT, an Art Supermarket, where customers could buy multiples from both emerging and renowned artists. The supermARkeT has also an online presence at www.superartmarket.com.

Harry Ruhé started his gallery in 1976. His gallery in Amsterdam is specialized in multiples, photography and artist’s books, from Fluxus, Wiener Aktionismus and Concept Art to recent movements. In this interview, he talks about the idea behind the Superartmarket, his gallery, and the collaboration with Artkitchen Gallery.

Harry Ruhé organized gallery exhibitions in co-operation with artists such as Günter Brus, Jochen Gerz, So LeWitt, George Maciunas, Yoko Ono, and many others. He produced Editions with – among others – Pieter Downsbrough, Peter Hutchinson, and Rob Scholte; was a guest curator of exhibitions organized for the Prague Biennial, and many galleries and museums, and published books about Fluxus and Multiples.

Jeannette Dekeukeleire’s Artkitchen Gallery is a project space for contemporary national and international art in Amsterdam. The gallery hosts at least six exhibitions per year and takes part in various art fairs.
