Dora García: The Inadequate, La Biennale 2011. Interview with Curator Katya García-Antón

Dora García represents Spain at the 54th International Art Exhibition – la Biennale di Venezia in Venice, Italy. The title of Dora García’s exhibition is L’Inadequato, Lo Inadecuado, The Inadequate. It’s an extended performance that evolves constantly throughout the duration of the Biennale and is made of objects, conversations, monologues, theater, silences, and debate. It involves nearly seventy participants.

“The Inadequate aims to replace the idea of exhibition with that of occupation, the idea of an artist’s show with that of a theatre of exhibitions, the idea of a national pavilion with a pavilion known to a specific country and its history.” says Dora García.

On the first of the Preview days of the Venice Biennale, VernissageTV met with the curator of the exhibition, Katya García-Antón. In this conversation with Sabine Trieloff, Katya García-Antón talks about the title and the concept of the exhibition.
