At Frieze Art Fair in London, Deutsche Bank officially announced the “Artist of the Year”. This time the award goes to the Slovakian artist Roman Ondák. After Wangechi Mutu and Yto Barrada Roman Ondák is the third artist who receives the prize that aims to honor and promote young artists who have created extraordinary photo works or works on paper. The selection of Roman Ondák was based on the recommendation of the Deutsche Bank Global Art Advisory Council, consisting of curators Okwui Enwezor, Hou Hanru, Udo Kittelmann, and Nancy Spector and chaired by Pierre de Weck, member of Deutsche Bank AG’s Executive Committee. The prize winner is featured in a solo exhibition at the Deutsche Guggenheim in Berlin. Roman Ondák’s exhibition is scheduled to open in April 2012.
