On the occasion of our trip to Plovdiv (Bulgaria) to cover the Night of Museums and Galleries, we also had a look at two exhibitions at the gallery Sariev Contemporary. One of them is called “M”. Curated by Bettina Steinbrügge (Director of the Kunstverein Hamburg, Germany), the show presents works by two artists: Ute Müller and Christoph Meier. Both live and work in Vienna, Austria. In this video, we have a look at the exhibition during the opening evening.
Bettina Steinbrügge on the exhibition: “We don’t know what M is or is doing right now and if this even matters. We assume that it could matter. Or not. M will be an enigmatic riddle, an assumption about what could be if we only try hard enough to let loose. Viennese artists Christoph Meier and Ute Müller tackle aesthetic issues from a variety of angles, pursuing the everyday through thoughts and actions firmly rooted in life experiences and reality. The two artists reflect on the social meaning of structures.”
M – Ute Müller, Christoph Meier, curated by Bettina Steinbrügge. Sariev Contemporary, Opening reception, Plovdiv (Bulgaria), September 12, 2014.
