Making Africa – Opening Talk with Okwui Enwezor and Amelie Klein at Vitra Design Museum

This video documents the Opening Talk within the framework of the exhibition Making Africa – A Contintent of Contemporary Design at Vitra Design Museum with Okwui Enwezor and Amelie Klein. The talk is entitled Making Africa – Ideas and Objects for a Continent to Come. Okwui Enwezor is the director of Haus der Kunst in Munich, Germany. He is considered one of the most influential people in contemporary art. Enwezor was the artistic director of documental 11 and is the curator of the 2015 Venice Art Biennale. The Nigerian-born curator and author is also consulting curator of the exhibition Making Africa at Vitra Design Museum. With Amelie Klein, curator of the exhibition, Enwezor talks about the exhibition’s development, its protagonists and exhibits, as well as the question of how contemporary art and design are shaping the future of the African continent.
