Miart 2017, the 22nd edition of the International Modern and Contemporary Art Fair in Milan, Italy, features 175 galleries, with a strong presence of American and British galleries. Many galleries participate in Miart for the first time, such as A Gentil Carioca (Rio de Janeiro), Marianne Boesky (New York), Alison Jacques (London), Nathalie Obadia (Paris-Brussels) and Gregor Podnar (Berlin). In addition to the five regular sections of the show (Establishes, Emergent, Generations, Decades and Object), the art fair has a new sector called On Demand, which is for galleries that exhibit context-based and site-specific works such as installations, performances, etc. There’s also a series of talks and awards and acquisition funds. The fair is accompanied by Milano Art Week, a program of events, openings and special hours in museums, public and private institutions around Milan. This video provides you with a virtual tour of this year’s fair and an introduction by the artistic director of the fair, Alessandro Rabottini.
