In the Print Room of the Museum Franz Gertsch, the Swiss-based German artist Anja Ganster presents paintings and installations from the last three years. Entitled “Gezeitenreibung (Konstellation 6)” (Tidal friction (constellation 6)), the exhibition features small to mid-format works and a wall-filling piece executed in watercolour and gouache on paper as well as acrylic and oil on canvas. The works are woven together to create a collage-like installative whole. With this show, Anja Ganster proceeds with her “constellations” project. The exhibition was curated by Anna Wesle in collaboration with the artist.
Anja Ganster has worked largely as a painter, however, she has recently also been active in the fields of sculpture, installation art and video. Her mostly realistic paintings executed in numerous glazed layers feature motifs like cityscapes and architectural views, interiors, still lifes and landscapes.
Anja Ganster was born in 1968 in Mainz (D), Anja Ganster lives and works in Binningen BL (CH). Her study of communication design was followed by studies of graphic art at the Akademie für Bildende Kunst Mainz and painting at the Slade School of Fine Art, London. The artist has received numerous prizes and travel grants since 1999 and has also had international solo exhibitions and participated in group shows since that year. The artist is represented in renowned institutions and collections.
