Elmgreen & Dragset: Warm Regards (2006)

Kontracom 06 was an art festival in Salzburg (Austria) that took place in May – July 2006. Curated by Max Hollein and Tomas Zierhofer-Kin, the festival consisted of art installations, performances and music in Salzburg’s public space. Participating artists were Knut Asdam, Christoph Büchel, Anna Ceeh, Ingar Dragset, Michael Elmgreen, Elmgreen & Dragset, Ayse Erkmen, Oliver Hangl, Felix Kubin, Jonathan Meese, Olaf Nicolai, Paola Pivi, Franz Pomassl, Michael Sailstorfer, Hans Schabus, and Markus Schinwald. In this video we have a look at Elmgreen & Dragset’s artwork “Warm Regards”.

Official description: “In the last few years Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset have dealt with the issue of the welfare state. A concentrated fragment of this ongoing debate is the presentation of a postcard kiosk, ironically called »Warm Regards«. The kiosk appears to be a relic of modern glass-andsteel architecture and therefore, a sightseeing object. Hence, the kiosk just sells postcards showing the kiosk. »Warm Regards« draws an ironic picture of exaggerated selfmarketing, offering only one´s own sale. Warm regards from anywhere.”
