The Hong Kong Pavilion at the 2026 Venice Biennale (61st International Art Exhibition), running from May 9 to November 22, 2026, features a joint exhibition by artists Kingsley Ng and Angel Hui entitled “Fermata: Hong Kong in Venice”.

Curated by the Hong Kong Museum of Art (HKMoA), the exhibition responds to the Biennale’s theme, “In Minor Keys,” by highlighting the poetic, slow rhythms of daily life in Hong Kong. Venice (Italy), May 6, 2026.

Fermata: Hong Kong in Venice is a Collateral Event of the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia. Jointly presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, and jointly organised by the Hong Kong Museum of Art and the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, the exhibition takes its title from the musical term “fermata,” denoting a moment of prolongation at the performer’s discretion.Aligned with the Biennale’s theme “In Minor Keys,” the exhibition creates a serene space for reflection amid daily life’s hectic pace. It features site-specific installations by Hong Kong artists Kingsley Ng and Angel Hui, who draw from the city’s cultural and collective experiences. Through light, sound, and movement, they reinterpret the subtle rhythms of ordinary urban life. Kingsley Ng transforms everyday rituals into meditative encounters that highlight transient tenderness, while Angel Hui draws attention to overlooked objects and beings, revealing the quiet pulses beneath city existence.The project aims to showcase Hong Kong art internationally and strengthen cultural exchange.
