Since 2008, qualified art caster Jan Eugster has been producing metal works for the artist Rudolf Stingel using the complex process of galvanoplasty (also called electroforming). Two of these pieces are currently on display in Rudolf Stingel’s solo exhibition at Fondation Beyeler in Riehen (Basel, Switzerland). In this conversation with Mirjam Baitsch, Jan Eugster talks about his collaboration with Rudolf Stingel, especially about how these works are being made, why this specific technique has been chosen, and the challenges and advantages of this process.
