Steichen: Une Épopée Photographique (Lives in Photography) / Jeu de Paume, Paris

Currently the Jeu de Paume presents the first European retrospective of Edward Steichen entitled “Une épopée photographique (Lives in Photography)“. Edward Steichen (1879-1973) was one of the most prolific and influential photographers of the 20th century. He produced portraits, landscapes, still lifes and nudes. With Alfred Stieglitz Edward Steichen helped to set up the Photo-Secession group and the journal Camera Work. He was art director of Vogue and Vanity Fair. Edward Steichen became one of the leading figures of modernism. As photography curator of the Museum of Modern Art MoMA in New York, he organized the famous exhibition “The Family of Man“. The exhibition runs until December 30, 2007.
