Noam Gonick and Luis Jacob: Wildflowers of Manitoba / Wilde Gallery, Berlin / Interview

March 3, 2008

As part of the Berlinale International Film Festival, Forum Expanded, Wilde Gallery Berlin presented “Wildflowers of Manitoba”, a performative installation by Noam Gonick and Luis Jacob, curated by Wayne Baerwaldt. The installation consists of four short films and sound presented in a furnished geodesic dome. “The films feature four young men living off the grid in an idealistic survivalist camp on the shores of Lake Winnipeg during the summer of 2006. The loosely scripted scenes establish a naturalist idyll seemingly removed from modernity. Like wildflowers, the male subjects are intimately tied to a seductive meadow that is bordered by abandoned railway tracks and virgin beaches.” (excerpt from the press release). This episode contains atmospheric shots of the opening of the exhibition and an interview with Noam Gonick and Luis Jacob. By VTV correspondent Peta Jenkin, 2nd camera by Anne Esser. February 12/13, 2008.
