Art Cologne 2010 / Vernissage

After a successful relaunch last year, the expectations were high for the 2010 edition of Art Cologne, 44. Internationaler Kunstmarkt in Cologne, Germany. The fair has been able to winning back important galleries as exhibitors and to integrate young galleries. The 2010 gallery list also sees top national and international dealers rejoining the fair after a few years’ absence, such as Eigen + Art, Karsten Greve, Johnen, or St. Stephan.

As in the last years, the unique art environment Open Space is back again, with 44 international galleris with latest projects and solo shows of contemporary art. As special projects, Open Space features Circus Hein, Silberkuppe, and Supportico Lopez.

VernissageTV will cover the fair from its studio at the fair. VernissageTV is located in the Open Space section of the fair in Hall 11.3. In this video, we have a first look at the fair during the opening reception. For more videos click here!

Andreas Fogarasi, Hungarian Pavilion, La Biennale di Venezia
At the 52nd International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia we met the artist who has been chosen to represent Hungary at the 2007 edition of the Biennale, Andreas Fogarasi (born 1977). His project “Kultur und Freizeit” (Culture and Leisure) consists of a series of single channel videos, all showing the present state of cultural centres in contemporary Budapest, projected in separate black boxes which both physically and structurally include the spectators. The project foucses on cultural peripheries and the changing locations of popular culture. La Biennale di Venezia, June 7, 2007.

Update (October 17, 2007): The Hungarian Pavilion with Andreas Fogarasi’s project “Kultur und Freizeit (Culture and Leisure)”, curated by Katalin Timár has won the Golden Lion for Best National Participation of the 52nd International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia. Congratulations!
