Wim Delvoye: Bronzes / de Pury & Luxembourg
De Pury & Luxembourg presents the first show of Belgian artist Wim Delvoye with a new body of work in bronze. “Among the nine works produced for this show is one of the largest contemporary bronzes ever shown in Zurich, a nearly 10-meter long walk-through double helix sculpture consisting of eight Jesus Christ figures. The artist, who is widely known for his tattooed pigs he raises on a farm in China and for his cloaca machine, a digestion system that produces excrements out of food, this new body of work marks a major step within his oeuvre. Here, he combines ideas from former projects with a revolutionary technical development that allows him to distort iconic subjects with greatest perfectionism.” (PR DPLZH, PDF). De Pury & Luxembourg, Löwenbräu Areal, Zürich/Switzerland. Season opening, August 25, 2006.
