Wim Delvoye: Cloaca 2000 – 2007 / Casino Luxembourg – Forum d’Art Contemporain

After several years of working with chemists, biologists and engineers, Wim Delvoye manages to build the first machine capable of not only swallowing and digesting food but also defecating. The Cloacas reproduce human digestion in what is a both artistic and scientific performance. The excrements will be dated and frozen. Later Wim Delvoye will choose and sign the best specimens, which will thus become art works. For the first time in the history of Cloaca, the exhibition, curated by Enrico Lunghi, presents seven Cloacas, hundreds of preparatory sketches as well as 3-D photographs, X-rays, models, Cloaca Gates, TV advertisements and vacuum sealed “Cloaca Faeces” (in effect, the capital of Cloaca Ltd.). On the occasion of the exhibition Wim Delvoye: CLOACA 2000 – 2007 (from 30 September 2007 to 6 January 2008) a really exciting book is published. Casino Luxembourg, October 13, 2007. By Thom de Bock.
