Chen Tamir: Hypothetical Exhibition / Scope 2007

Hypothetical Exhibition: Curator, Chen Tamir with Host, Althea Viafora Kress. Chen Tamir is a budding young curator and art critic studying at the Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College. She is based in Toronto, Tel-Aviv, and New York. During Scope 2007 she curates a hypothetical exhibition from the works displayed bringing together six artworks by Dean Baldwin, Vuc Cosic, Mike Peter Smith, Feast and Shannon Wright that regurgitate cinema in an ironic way, or that present irony in a cinematic way. It’s a modest rumination on the pathetic. Althea Viafora Kress asks how. See Dean Baldwin’s “Tuxedo Shower,” a ridiculous and endearing photograph for which was recreated a scene from a Cary Grant film and “Manual” where Shannon Wright has drawn up directions for using a public bathroom without touching anything. Chen Tamir: Walk through project at Scope art fair 2007. Interview: Althea Viafora-Kress. Camera: James Painter Belvin. February 23, 2007. Grizzly Lodge Series.
