The Killing Machine and Other Stories 1995 – 2007 / Janet Cardiff & George Bures Miller / Mathildenhöhe Darmstadt

The presentation at Institute Mathildenhöhe Darmstadt, which was organized in close collaboration with the Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA), the so far largest retrospective exhibition of the Canadian artist duo Janet Cardiff (*1957) and George Bures Miller (*1960) worldwide, combines works from the years 1995 to 2007 – including the new installation The Killing Machine – in a thrilling exposé of the artists’ overall output. The extensive catalogue book provides, together with a DVD of the presented works, a concise overview of the artist`s activity and – at the same time functioning as a comprehensive reader – unites much previously non-released text- and image material as well as literary and academic parallel tracks to the oeuvre of Cardiff & Miller. The next stop of the exhibition will be at Miami Art Museum. By Thom de Bock.
