We Are Stardust, We Are Golden. Women at Johnen + Schöttle since 1984

In the first place the exhibition “We are Stardust, We Are Golden. Woman at Johnen + Schöttle since 1984” is not an exhibition on female artists but it is a historical review that incorporates an experimental assembly. Its main concern is to investigate in what way an altered temporal context does change the way of perception. For this purpose works by female artists seem to be especially appropriate since it was the perception of these artworks that has changed dramatically during the last twenty years. “Female artists who have been almost unknown twenty years ago are highly esteemed nowadays” (Jörg Johnen). The show with twenty artists (Katharina Fritsch, Candida Höfer, Sue Williams, Karen Kilimnik and Candice Breitz among others) is on display from April 16 until June 14, 2008. Our correspondent Thom de Bock spoke with Jörg Johnen from the Gallery Johnen + Schöttle, Cologne. April 29, 2008.
