Veilhan at Versailles / Interview with Xavier Veilhan

Last year, American artist Jeff Koons presented his works at the Chateau de Versailles near Paris, France. This year, French artist Xavier Veilhan shows his works in the Gardens, Royal Court, and apartments of the Versailles Palace. Xavier Veilhan: “My project for Versailles mainly addresses the outdoor realm, following an east/west axis across the estate, from the Place d’Armes to Le Ní´tre’s formal gardens. I will be placing several works or groups of works conceived especially for this exhibition, which will articulate the continuity that joins the site’s history to its contemporary protraction. This is a project that is dynamic, classical, open and universal, aiming to establish a new bond between visitors to the place and the spaces they come into contact with.”

Xavier Veilhan was born in Lyon in 1963. He lives and works in Paris. Xavier Veilhan works in a variety of media such as photography, sculpture, film, painting and installation art. The exhibition Veilhan at the Versailles Palace runs until December 13, 2009. Interview and video by Christophe Ecoffet.
