Harun Farocki and Paola Yacoub at Beirut Art Center, Beirut / Lebanon

Until 15 April, the Beirut Art Center in Beirut / Lebanon is two showing exhibitions: Image Works by Harun Farocki and Drawing with the Things Themselves by Paola Yacoub.

Image Works presents a selection of Harun Farocki’s major video installations. Among the works on display are the earlier works Interface (1995), I Thought I Was Seeing Convicts (2000) and Eye/Machine III (2003), as well as the more recent productions Workers Leaving the Factory in Eleven Decades (2006), On Construction of Griffith’s Films (2006), and Serious Games (2009 & 2010). The German filmmaker and artist Harun Farocki is known for his films and videos that explore the production, disseminationand reception of images and their cultural and political power.

The Beirut Art Center also presents the first solo exhibition by Lebanese artist Paola Yacoub. She was born in 1966 in Beirut. Paola Yacoub studied at the Beirut Academy of Fine Arts, and graduated from the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London in 1993. Since she received the DAAD artist’s program fellowship, Paola Yacoub has been living and working in Berlin and Beirut. The exhibition at Beirut Art Center presents a selection of works: performative photographs, photomontages, photographs, drawings, objects, models, texts, slideshows and video clips.
