Iván Navarro’s work was already very present at ARCO, the contemporary art fair in Madrid, and now in New York his work seems to be omnipresent. At The Armory Show, one of the highlights was his site-specific installation at the booth of Paul Kasmin Gallery (see in our Armory Show coverage here). The gallery is also presenting Iván Navarro’s work in a solo show at the gallery. Titled “Heaven or Las Vegas”, the exhibition showcases new works by the Chilean artist. It features the fluorescent light sculptures the artist is known for.
It’s Iván Navarro’s first solo exhibition at the gallery. Navarro has created a series of fluorescent light wall sculptures based on the floor plans of twelve of the world’s most well known skyscrapers, including the Flatiron Building in New York, the Jumeirah Emirates Towers in Dubai and The Center in Hong Kong.
Iván Navarro was born in Santiago, Chile. His work is held in public and private collections such as the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden (Washington, DC), the Saatchi Collection (London) and the Centro Galego de Arte Contempoanca (Santiago de Compostela, Spain). Iván Navarro currently lives and works in Brooklyn.
