Convert the ephemeral into eternal, control the time step, relive past experiences, change them. Hold memories, represent the soul, prolong a moment, materialize the intangible, are continuous and ongoing aspirations of humans; largely one of the general motives of art. Rastros (Traces) is a consideration of the artistic processes that seek to represent or make allegories of rituals, time, space, power and movement, energy. Certainly not a new approach but a renewed look at the subject.
What is the importance of past’s footprint? Which part of the vestige remain in the present? Rastros evoke an analysis on the significance of the traces, and about them as a substantive topic of the artwork.
Curated by Sofía Mariscal, the exhibition includes pieces by 8 international artists: Bill Viola (USA), Glenda León (Cuba), Lázaro Valiente (Mexico), Jose íngel Vincench (Cuba), Maura Falfán (Mexico), N Dash (USA), Norman Mooney (Ireland) and Sebastien Verdon (Switzerland). Who explore the subject through different expression platforms such as: site specific installations, video, performance and photography among other media.
