Le Château at Galeria Luisa Strina, São Paulo

O Castelo (Le Château) is a group exhibition at Galeria Luisa Strina in Sao Paulo, created by “Various Artists”. The remarkable thing is that these “various artists” are a group of 24 artists that are fictive, created by the artist Trudo Engels. The exhibition, curated by Catherine Bompuis consists of a castle made out of countless mass produced buiscuits in their packaging. Thus, the exhibition draws attention to the eating habits and the mass production of food.

For each of his Various Artists, Trudo Engels has created a CV and a specific artistic identity. Each of the artists works along a specific research line. Within the framework of the exhibtion at Galeria Luisa Strina, one of the Various Artists, Morice De Lisle fasts for 34 days. He drinks only water. This performance is inspired by the Franz Kafka story “The Hunger Artist”, a metaphor for the artist and his condition.
