VTV Classics (r3): Chen Zhen: The Body as Landscape / Kunsthalle Wien (2007)

In 2007, Kunsthalle Wien in Vienna, Austria, payed homage to one of the most prominent Chineses avant-garde artists, Chen Zhen (1955-2000). Chen Zhen, disillusioned by post-Maoist reform politics, left China in the mid-eighties. In 1986, he emigrated to Paris where his concept of “open sculpture” received international acclaim. The retrospective staged by Kunsthalle Wien encompassed all important periods of the artists work, including models and sketches of his unrealized projects. VernissageTV first published this exhibition walkthrough in July, 2007. This is another segment in our series r3 that highlights the treasures of VernissageTV’s huge archive. R3 is a series of VernissageTV classics, now re-mastered, re-edited and reissued in High Definition. Click here for the complete list of videos. Click here for the original post.
