Jacqueline Fraser: The Making of Maria by Callas 2020 / Kunsthalle Zürich

The Making of Maria by Callas 2020 is a new site specific installation that artist Jacqueline Fraser has conceived for Kunsthalle Zürich. It’s Jacqueline Fraser’s latest in a series of works, begun in 2011, that are inspired by arthouse and Hollywood films, and her first institutional exhibition in Switzerland. The Making of Maria by Callas 2020 is inspired by Tom Volf’s 2017 documentary about the famous opera singer Maria Callas. This video provides you with a tour through the exhibition and an introduction by the curator Matthew Hanson.

Jacqueline Fraser was born in Dunedin, New Zealand in 1956. She has exhibited widely in a career that spans more than three decades. In 2001 she has represented New Zealand at the Venice Biennale. Jacqueline Fraser has been shortlisted for the Walters Prize in New Zealand twice (2004 and 2008), and for the Artes Mundi Prize in the UK (2004).
