Basel Biennale 2024: What Is Already There / The Film

Basel Biennale. The most sustainable art exhibition ever, a visual mixtape. Theme 2024: What Is Already There.

Basel Biennale aims to cast light on the many artworks that exist in public places in Basel, but often stay unnoticed. Some are hidden in places with little traffic, some get lost in the hustle and bustle of the city. These are sculptures, murals, fountains, wall reliefs, even performances. Our society is obsessed with the new, the last hype, not only since the advent of social media. Basel Biennale wants to the public to rediscover the art that is already here. As a side effect, it’s the most sustainable art exhibition.

Basel Biennale also aims to raise awareness for preserving these works of art. Some of them need regular maintenance, some of them need to be repaired, so giving them continued love and respect is desired.

There’s a map with the locations of all the works, so it’s easy to create an individual route.

There are so many things that nobody notices in everyday life.
(Ana Jotta)

Blessed are they who see beautiful things in humble places where other people see nothing.
