Anselm Kiefer / The Margulies Collection at the Warehouse, Miami

In this video we have a look at the Anselm Kiefer exhibition at the Margulies Collection at the Warehouse in Miami’s Wynwood Arts District. The exhibition features Anselm Kiefer’s artworks Lilith’s Töchter (1991), Dein Haus ritt die finstere Welle (2006), Die Walküren (2016), Leviathan und Behemoth (2013), Sprache der Vögel (1989), and Geheimnis der Farne (2007).

German artist Anselm Kiefer is known for his monumental, powerfully textured works that confront Germany’s Nazi past, the Holocaust, cultural memory, mythology, and the weight of history, often incorporating unconventional materials such as lead, straw, ash, clay, concrete, and dried plants to create encrusted, almost sculptural surfaces that evoke decay, transformation, and the passage of time.

Martin Z. Margulies is widely regarded as one of the largest — and specifically the largest — private collectors of Anselm Kiefer’s works in the United States. Margulies, a Miami-based real estate developer and philanthropist, has built an extensive holding of Kiefer’s monumental paintings, sculptures, and installations through his nonprofit Margulies Collection at the Warehouse in Miami’s Wynwood Arts District.
