Brian Alfred: Surveillance / Haunch of Venison Zurich
August 30, 2006

Haunch of Venison Zürich presents the first solo exhibition in Zurich of the American artist Brian Alfred. The show explores the acts of looking and of being watched. “Brian Alfred is a resident of Brooklyn, New York, from where commuters to Manhattan are captured on surveillance cameras for the large majority of their journey. The growing prevalence of security cameras is a worldwide phenomenon, which led the artist to ask who is watching who, when, and where?” (PR HoV). The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue with an essay by Aaron Betsky, Director of the Netherlands Architecture Institute, Rotterdam and an interview with the artist by Nigel Warburton, Senior Lecturer in Philosophy at the Open University. A microsite animation for “Surveillance” can be found here. Haunch of Venison Zürich, August 26, 2006.
